FAQ

Which character should I start with in D2 Survivors?
A commonly recommended first pick in public beginner guides is the Barbarian with the Double Swing skill. Skills fire automatically, so your job is movement and upgrade choices.
How do I equip and sell items?
Open the inventory with I, right-click an item to equip it, and Shift-click to sell where a shop is available.
What carries over between runs?
Items and gold carry over. Act I progress, the run timer and run upgrades do not.
Do I need Diablo II to play D2 Survivors?
Yes. You need your own Diablo II with Lord of Destruction (1.14) or Diablo II: Resurrected; the game reads art and sound from your install.

A short beginner guide for D2 Survivors, the free Diablo II–inspired browser game (not Ubisoft’s The Division 2: Survivors). Launch the game on the home page and follow along.

1. Get set up

Use a desktop browser. Click inside the game once so it captures the keyboard. You also need your own Diablo II (Lord of Destruction, patch 1.14) or Diablo II: Resurrected files: the game reads art and sound from your install and this site never provides them. See Setup Files.

2. Move and survive

Use WASD to keep moving. Standing still is the fastest way to die: kite enemies in wide circles and avoid corners.

3. Loot and gold

Your skills fire automatically, so your job is movement and upgrade choices. Left-click to pick up drops, open the inventory with I and right-click an item to equip it. Shift-click sells where a shop is available. A common first pick is the Barbarian with the Double Swing skill. Gold and items carry over between runs, so even a failed run makes you stronger.

4. Run structure

Each run restarts from Act I. Your gear and gold are kept, your position in the story is not.

5. Tips

  • Equip new gear after every pickup burst, not mid-fight.
  • Use Esc, then Save and exit game, and wait for the main menu before closing the tab — see Save Progress.
  • Stuck? See Troubleshooting.
